Start your journey to a future in Musical Theatre ...
Trinity College London
Musical Theatre is one of the fastest growing areas of interest within the dramatic arts. The Trinity Guildhall syllabus recognises this and supports development in musical theatre training. As a registered centre we can help enable our students to hone their talents and fulfill their aspirations in Musical Theatre whilst simultaneously developing skills for everyday life.
The musical theatre syllabus is perfectly geared to help build individual confidence and develop performance skills and therefore Bath Theatre School is a registered Trinity College London examination centre.
Foundation Level (Grades 1-3)
This involves a memorised performance in character of two contrasting songs along with another presentation that might use any combination of prose, dance, movement or song. Improvisation skills are tested too, and at Grade 3 a spoken extract from a play is introduced. The examiner will then discuss the prepared pieces.
Intermediate Level (Grades 4-5)
This requires candidates to perform two contrasting songs followed by a performance of a dance or movement sequence based on one of the prepared songs, a play extract and an improvised performance are required, together with discussion of the content, context and preparation of the selections.
Advanced Level (Grades 6-8)
At Advanced levels the dance routine or movement sequence has more specific requirements and improvisation or modification of performance is tested. At Grade 8 a thematically linked programme that demonstrates integrated use of singing, acting and choreographed movement is required, as well as a dance or movement sequence, improvisation or modification of performance and discussion.
